More about Lucas

How did you get into software?

I used to spend a ridiculous amount of time playing Counter-Strike back in the day, and if you wanted to join the good clans, you either had to be very good at the game… or know how to make clan websites. I went with the latter. So I ended up making a bunch of clan websites in FrontPage and Dreamweaver, with player stats, favorite loadouts, guestbooks, GIFs, and all the other essential ingredients of early-2000s internet greatness. At the time, I had absolutely no idea this was called "software development".

Later, I discovered Adobe Flash, and that's where my interest in design, animation, and development really started to grow. It also made me realize I might actually make a career out of it.

Why are you at Resend?

Resend is a small team building significant things. In addition to having a great product, I was thoroughly impressed by the company's transparency and human approach. There's a real sense of care here for the product, for developers, and for each other, and that's exactly where I want to be.

Where do you find #inspiration?

I don't have a particular workflow here, it really depends. It can come from travels, hanging out with friends, flowers blossoming, birds singing outside. But it also comes from the opposite end: what other people are building, Twitter, AI. The fact that I can bounce crazy ideas off a computer and make them real is still mind blowing to me. It's really a balance of the two.

If you weren't programming, what would you be doing?

I'd love to work as an architect. I've always been fascinated by how form and function come together in physical spaces. Or playing Counter-Strike professionally, that works too.

Favorite tool?

Conductor + Claude combo is my go-to agent coding setup right now. I've always been a GUI over terminal kind of guy and Conductor delivers that perfectly.

Favorite hotkey?

F1 to trigger Wispr Flow. It wasn't natural at first, but now it's part of my daily workflow.

Advice for ambitious software engineers?

Be nice to people and build relationships. It sounds simple, but it's the single thing that has opened the most doors in my career.
